You are advised to apply for a Schengen visa as soon as you can before your departure. The legal processing period is 15 days. However, in individual cases, the processing period can be extended to 45 days.

COVID-19 Checklist for Travel into Prague

  • Please check with your respective airlines if mask is required onboard.
  • Vaccination Certificates are not required in Prague, but you are strongly encouraged to prepare them in the event of checks upon arrival.

Testing Positive for COVID-19

  • If you test positive before your trip, kindly inform us via email at [email protected].
  • If you test positive during the trip, although you are no longer required to self-isolate, it is highly recommended that you:
    • Exercise caution and minimize social interactions as much as possible.
    • Wear a mask and observe physical hygiene for 10 days after the test result.
    • If symptoms got worse, you may call Prague’s health hotline at 155.

If you test positive after the trip, kindly adhere to the prevailing country’s COVID-19 guidelines for recovery.

VAT Refund

The standard VAT in Prague is currently 21%.

You are eligible for a VAT Refund before leaving Czech Republic if you meet all the following requirements:

  • Resident of a non-EU country at the time of purchase.
  • A tax refund form and receipt must be obtained from the retailer. 
  • Purchased items must be brought out of the country within 30 days from the date of purchase.
  • Total amount per receipt (tax inclusive) must be greater than 2,001 CZK* 

                 *Goods must be bought in the same shop on the same day.

VAT Refund Process 

  1. Buy goods of over 2,001CZK in a single day from a retailer displaying the TAX REFUND sign.
  2. Request for the envelope, VAT REFUND FORM and receipt from the retailer.
  3. Ensure that the VAT REFUND FORM is completed with the VAT amount specified and stamped by the retailer.
  4. Have the VAT REFUND FORM validated at the border or at the airport by the Czech Customs Office. 

3 Options to Receive VAT refund:

  1. Visit a refund office at the border operated by a specialized collecting agency and receive a cash refund on spot. 
  2. Return home and send your VAT forms and receipts to a specialized collecting agency by mail, requesting the refund within 90 days from the day of purchase.
  3. Retain all the forms and receipts and claim the refund with the same retailer during your next visit to the Czech Republic, within 90 days from the day of purchase.
